The Committee That Lives In Your Head

This is Patrick Doyle who heads up Veritas Counseling in Medford Oregon being interviewed by Perry Atkinson of Dove TV.

Patrick got the concept of “the committee in our head” when he was in recovery and we ALL to one degree or another have these thoughts that are accusatory in nature, telling us we can’t do it, we shouldn’t do it, it’s just going to fail anyway, reminding us of our past failures, we’re not good enough, we have no worth and on and on.

As we know Satin the devil is the father of lies, for in John 8:44 Jesus said the devil was and that lying was Satin’s native language. Patrick also reminds us Satan is the accuser of the brethren *** (see note)

So when Patrick counsels folks he teaches them that we have to “fire the committee” so to speak, or at least not let it speak so loudly to where it drives some people to substance abuse, some to isolate themselves from letting other people know them, some to become workaholics and a myriad of other things.

We as the church don’t always help hurting people with this very well, perhaps because we don’t know how.

Here’s a basic rule :

Accusation comes from Satan, conviction comes from God. Two very different things.

If you struggle with your value to God, or you feel like God can’t love you, or God doesn’t love you as much as He loves other Christians who are better than you…YOU HAVE A COMMITTEE IN YOUR HEAD!

Please give this excellent counselor a listen and see what you think…

Revelation 12:10

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

Zechariah 3:1-2

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

 Job 2:1-6

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD. The LORD said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.” The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”

Direct Experience: The One Benefit of Accepting Muslim Migrants

Source: Direct Experience: The One Benefit of Accepting Muslim Migrants

“A silver lining exists in the dust cloud being beat up by the marching feet of millions of Muslim men migrating into the West: those many Europeans and Americans, who could never understand Islam in theory, will now have the opportunity to understand it through direct and personal experience.

Perhaps then they will awaken to reality?”
